Policies on external professional activities for pay, including writing books, consulting, or any other activities that could result in time away from university duties and for which an individual receives some form of payment. Go to http://www.unc.edu/campus/policies.html under employment, and click on External Professional Activities of Faculty and other Professional Staff to retrieve the form describing the policy and what information to file. Please complete the form BEFORE you agree to perform any such work, and file it with the department HR facilitator and the department chair.
