Disposal of Unwanted Equipment or Furniture

Unwanted items belonging to the University must be sent to Surplus. If you have equipment or furniture in your lab or office that you do not want, please inform Philip Thompson, Beverly Metz, or Christy Redmon. Some items require special handling or extra paperwork, but in most cases, you will be informed that you can proceed with the surplus procedure yourself. To do this, go to http://www.unc.edu/finance/busman/asm/asmapp5.pdf to download a Surplus Property Receipt Form. Call 2-2134 for a Surplus Property Receipt Number. Put this number on the form and list the items you wish to dispose of, as well as their condition and the room number in which they are located. Fax the completed form to Surplus at 3-0166. Items are typically picked up within a few days. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE ITEMS IN THE HALLWAY.

Extra steps must be taken prior to sending computers to UNC Surplus. Notify PANIC of any unwanted or unneeded computers, computer-related equipment, or electronic media, and they will take care of it for you.
