Undergraduate Advising
Students who choose to major in physics are assigned to one of the two undergraduate advisors in the department, Dr. Jack Ng or Dr. Jim Rose. These advisors follow the students' progress closely, advising them on course choices and on other opportunities for learning, such as summer programs and participation in research in the department.
Prospective majors are urged to contact either one of these professors to discuss the courses they would take, for information about career options available to graduates with a physics background, and for general advice about the undergraduate program. Those with specific questions about astronomy courses can contact Prof. Jim Rose. Questions about AP credit, placement by exam, and other regulations should contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Jon Engel.
