General Information
The department offers a B.S. in physics and a B.A. in physics. Within the B.A. program,several options are available. A minor in astronomy and a minor in
physics also are offered. The requirements include standard lecture coursesand labs, and research and hands-on oriented independent labs (PHYS 142L/143L and 181L/182L, ASTR 137).
In addition students are encouraged to
participate in the wide range of exciting research activities in the
department. Credit hours can also be awarded to research projects (PHYS 91/92 and ASTR 91/92). The emphasis on
laboratory research is aimed at enhancing physics learning, learning
technical skills, and developing career goals. Students completing the
degree program are prepared for advanced study in physics or related fields,
or for technical employment in a wide range of areas."
