The requirements include standard lecture coursesand labs, and research and hands-on oriented independent labs (PHYS 142L/143L and 181L/182L, ASTR 137).

In addition students are encouraged to participate in the wide range of exciting research activities in the department. Credit hours can also be awarded to research projects (PHYS 91/92 and ASTR 91/92). The emphasis on laboratory research is aimed at enhancing physics learning, learning technical skills, and developing career goals.
