Astronomy Journal Club

Each week we discuss a current research topic in the field of Astronomy. Below is the list of speakers and topics for the Spring 2004 semester. Follow the provided links to a paper related to the presentation.

We meet every Friday at 1pm in Phillips 258, except for the third Friday of every month, when we have Astrophysics Seminar.

November 2 Bart Dunlap Verifying the Cosmological Utility of Type Ia Supernovae: Implications of a Dispersion in the Ultraviolet Spectra
November 9 Leslie Prochaska I will present a summary of results presented at the October 2007 conference, "Formation and Evolution of Galaxy Disks". Concepts include properties of nearby disks, outskirts and environment, accretion onto disks, mergers, secular evolution, and disk formation in a hierarchical universe.
