String Theory

Study of superstring theory. Duality within string theories. Relationship of five superstring theories and supergravity to M theory; logical basis and formulation of M theory. Mathematical methods applied to string theory including algebraic geometry, differential geometry and number theory. Noncommutative gauge theories. Analysis and classification of D branes. Duality between string theory and gauge field theories. Breaking of supersymmetry; vacuum energy and cosmological constant. Large N limit of SU(N) for branes and their duals which are gauge field theories.
