This talk will explore the possibilities of building (semi)realistic particle models of the brane world scenario in type IIB string theory. The model of a three brane at a Delta₂₇ orbifold singularity will be used as the guiding example, as well as to analyze the potential technical problems in realizing a model that is phenomenologically acceptable.
