STRINGED INSTRUMENTS 2004

Alex describes his Bottle Band, which is made of a plastic soda bottle, a spatula, a drawer pull, and rubber bands.

Amanda's USI (Unidentified Stringed Instrument) incorporates a plastic bottle, a chocolate tin, rubber bands, and a cardboard bridge.

Chad calls his instrument the Heartbreaker because he spent Valentine's Day building it. The body is a FedEx box, the neck and the bridge are made of wood, and it is strung with Weedwhacker string.

Erin made a Bucket Bass that used lots of duct tape to maintain the string tension.

Jennifer's Krackel Bando has a plastic food container as its resonator, with rubber bands for strings.

Jonathan was disappointed with his instrument's performance, so he did not give it a name. Its body is a box that once held cut flowers, and the bridge is a cardboard coaster.

Kevin built the Canjo, in which a Coke can serves as the resonator. He plays it by stopping the string with a spoon and plucking the long portion.

Logan's Tritar has a wooden body and bridge. It resembles a balalaika.

Nick's Buckethead uses Weedwhacker strings and has the bridge inside the body.

Stockton's Serial Boxer has three courses of rubber-band strings tuned in 4ths and 5ths.
