CURRICULUM VITAE
Research Interests:
My thesis is focused
on direct dark matter detection with low-threshold high-purity germanium
detectors. The experiment is based in the Kimballton mine, located 30 minutes
from the campus of Virginia Tech. I am also involved in the Majorana
Experiment, which aims to detect neutrinoless double beta decay in
germanium-76.
About Me:
I graduated from Penn State in May 2006 with a B.S. in Astronomy & Astrophysics and a B.S. in Physics. I received
my M.S. (Nuclear Physics) from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008. I am in my third year of grad school here at UNC in the Experimental Nuclear
and Particle Astrophysics group pursuing a Ph.D.
Aside from physics, I also enjoy sports, especially golf and ice hockey.
I am about a 9 or 10 handicap, but I haven't played that much since I moved to North Carolina, so I am more like
a 13 or 14 right now. I played hockey all four years at Penn State in addition to flag football, softball,
golf and volleyball. I now play ice hockey for the UNC Club Ice Hockey team.
In addition to UNC, I also play in an adult league in Hillsborough, NC. You can
check out my adult league stats HERE.
Some of my other hobbies include reading, playing video games, utilizing my dvr as much as possible, running with my dog, and being awesome.
